Photograph by Jeremiah Gurney Jr., New York City, Monday, April 24, 1865.

ostendorfA  (p235) credits Springfield State Historical Society.

Several photographs of Lincoln in death once existed. All but this one were destroyed by, or at the order of, Secretary of War Edward Stanton.  ostendorfA  (p374) claimed discovery of a second surviving post-mortem photograph, and classified it as Ostendorf #130, but  burk  (p268) summarizes the research that proves otherwise.
