This photograph was discovered by James Mellon while preparing his 1978 book _The Face of Lincoln_. The photo shows an image of Lincoln framed by rails that, according to an inscription on the back of the photo, were split by Lincoln himself. Mellon presented the image to Lloyd Ostendorf.
